Breeze.
Simply free.
Rough start, sputtering breath, irregular heart.
In it now.
The start melts away;
what I’ll take, what I’ll leave, what I steal back from today.
That, that will stay.
Impact in each foot,
Solid.
Firm.
Sweep back, elongated legs pushing-
Hips driving in a rhythmic toss
To the slap of each impact
Shoulders swaying
Thoughts fraying
All in tandem
Wrapping up the day.
Mechanical grace; gliding through time and space
One whole.
Mind, body, soul.
In control.
Countdown celebrate,
Blood pulsates,
Whole body vibrates,
With the sudden rush-
I end the day.
The loss of today,
Stolen back.
The rhythms pounds to a stop
Legs throb, head free of knots,
Cold, sweet air, pulling inside lungs.
Long, slow walk.
Stretching out.
Settling down.
